the whole place is made of unwanted pieces of bangles, tiles, used plastics
cans, tins and other waste materials. |

Mayiladumpara---------::

Well known as a grove abounding in peacocks,the name is perfectly justified.Malyiladumpara is
7 Km. from Kottayi and 30 Km. from Palakkad. This place is also
known as Choolanoor Peacock Sanctuary.
The
peacock sanctuary is dedicated to presrving the majestic peacock in
its natural habitat which is fast becoming extinct. |

Parambikulam----------::

A wild life sanctuary, spread over an area of 272 km., lying in the western
ghats is about 125 km.
From Pollachi, south of Palghat town. It provides a
scintillating view of rare wild animals.

There is an array of Dam and reservoirs in the area. Boat cruises are
provided in the Parambikkulam forest by the forest authorities. The place is also famous
for the teak plantations. The giant and the oldest Teak Tree "Kannimari" stands
here.
The rest house of the State Forest Department at Thoonakkadavu,
Thellikal, Elanthode and a tree house at Thoonakkadavu offers lodging facility.It is in
the midst of this wild life sanctuary that Salim Ali, ornithologist started his much
acclaimed studies on birds way in 1920’s.
Some of the most sited animals are : Bonnet macaque,
Lion tailed macaque, Nilgiri Langur, Gaur, Tiger, Leopard, Jungle Cat,
Civet, Bear, Elephant, Nilgiri Tahr, Spoted Deer, Wild Boar etc. |

Tipu's Fort---------------::

Palakkad Fort in the town, is the most beautiful and well-preserved fort of Kerala.
The sober silence of the granite walls reminds us of the old tales of valor and
courage.
It was constructed by Hyder Ali in 1766 of Mysore.In 1790 the fort was taken and
remodified by the British. The situated fort is
protected by the Archeological Survey Of India.
An ancient Hanuman temple is situated within the
fort which is as old as the fort.

60 kms. from Palakkad, Nelliampathy is ideal
